Six new Perak state executive council members, comprising four new faces and two former members took their oaths of office before Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah at Istana Iskandariah here.

The new faces are Perak MCA Youth chief Dr Mah Hang Soon (Chenderiang), Perak Umno Youth chief Zainol Fadzi Paharudin (Sungai Manik), Hamidah Osman (Sungai Rapat) and Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid (Kamunting).

The two former members are Datuk Ramly Zahari (Manong) and Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan).

They signed their letters of appointment yesterday witnessed by Ipoh High Court judge Datuk Zainal Adzam Abdul Ghani.

The number of exco members announced yesterday was far short from the 10 under the previous administration.

Ramly, 52, who is state Umno secretary, is the most experienced among them, having been an exco member from 1995 until the Barisan Nasional state government was toppled in the March general election last year.

Saarani, the Lenggong Umno division head and Perak Umno liaison committee member, had held the post of state exco for Information and Rural Development while Dr Mah, 44, is a cardiologist.

Mohd Zahir, 41, was the former corporate manager of Universiti Teknologi Petronas. He holds degrees in economics and law from the University of Leeds, England.

Hamidah, 48, the only woman in the council, is the Gopeng Umno division Wanita chief. — Bernama
