Its chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the Environmental Affairs bureau was aimed at raising awareness on preserving nature.

“It will also monitor environmental issues and come out with strategies to tackle the problems.

“Malaysia is a land endowed with many natural treasures and our duty is to make sure that future generations get to enjoy these gifts,” he said at the “Green Symphony” concert at SEGi Univer-sity College in Kota Damansara last night.

Dr Wee said the issue of environmental awareness had become more urgent today.

“Climate change and loss of bio-diversity are the challenges we have to battle,” he added.

The green concert was organised in conjunction with World Environment Day by Selangor MCA Youth, SEGi University College, Mama Treble Clef Studio, New Pro-Star and CMG Sound and Music.
