Organised by MCA Youth, the “Coffee Talk” on Budget 2025 invites youths and tertiary students nationwide to discuss national issues over coffee.
As Budget 2025 will be tabled in Parliament in October, MCA Youth will launch a series of "Coffee Talk" sessions nationwide to gather feedback from young adults regarding current challenges confronting them and their expectations for the national economy. These discussions will be compiled into a memorandum to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance for consideration as part of the Budget 2025.
The "Coffee Talk" will kickstart from July 7th starting in Melaka, with a total of 9 sessions planned nationwide at major coffee shops. The schedule can be found in attached table.
The voices and perspectives of youth are often overlooked on budgetary matters. Hence, young adults are encouraged to seize this opportunity and actively express their views. This dialogue is not only a platform for exchange but also an opportunity for youths to participate in national development.
Through face-to-face discussions, MCA Youth hopes to gain a comprehensive understanding of the opinions and suggestions of youth and tertiary students on aspects such as the economy, education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
In addition, youth and students can also discuss their life plans regarding family and career, which are also areas of concern for them.
Issues of concern vary between different locations and communities. To ensure comprehensive and extensive information gathering and not miss out on the voices of youth from all walks of life and groups, we will traverse the nation, striving to reach out to more youths.
As the organising committee Chairperson, I wish to emphasise that youths are the future pillars of the nation. This initiative will provide them with a platform to voice their opinions and offer valuable first-hand information to the government. Their ideas and opinions are crucial in formulating fiscal policies that meet contemporary needs.
As the youth wing of a political party, MCA Youth will actively serve as a bridge for youth participation in public policy, maintaining vigilance and oversight over public policies to ensure that the concerns of young adults are addressed.
